Welcome

Corran IPS is an integrated, co-educational primary school and nursery unit which welcomes, respects and cherishes children of differing religions whilst retaining its own Christian character. Corran is also an inclusive school, welcoming all children from differing traditions, race, class, abilities and disabilities.

We aim to provide a happy, secure environment in which children can realise their full potential as individuals through effective learning. Every opportunity is given for children to experience individual success.

Our new school  building, opened in September 2019, is located on a breathtaking site overlooking the sea and the sweeping Antrim hills.

Hello and welcome to our new website!

Back To School!

It's a big thumbs up from everyone as we get back into the school routine at Corran! The girls and boys have been fantastic at coming into school and are settling down for a wonderful year of learning.

Parents and carers were welcomed at our Curriculum Information Evening when they found out about PE days, homework, World Around Us topics and all the other important information about the year ahead; they even got to visit classrooms and sit in their child's seat!

Cycle Across the World Spin Challenge

Our Pupil Councillors have organised a fundraising extravaganza for everyone to join in and have some fun! It's the Cycle Across the World Spin Challenge!

On Tuesday 25th June we will be taking turns on a spin bike to see how many miles we can log in a day: it’s £1 to take part and the money raised will be shared with local cancer charities supporting children and their families.

Our younger pupils will have a chance to join in on wobble bikes, trikes and bikes: fun for everyone!

How far do you think we will be able to cycle? Let's spin right around the world!

Let's Celebrate!

Let's Celebrate!

Some of our pupils will be celebrating the Sacrament of First Communion on Saturday 25th May in St Anthony’s Church. All pupils are invited to come to the service and sit together as a choir; pupils should wear their school uniform and be in the church by 10.45am.

Refreshments will be served afterwards in our school hall: children attending the buffet in school must be accompanied by an adult.

Donations of traybakes would be made most welcome! These can be dropped off in school on Friday 24th May. Fresh cream items can be left in school on the morning of the service.

What a wonderful way to celebrate our integrated ethos!

Every Drop of Water Counts!

Every Drop of Water Counts!

We held a special assembly to learn more about the importance of water in our lives: our VIP guest, Anna, from NI Water explained how every drop counts and she gave us some great tips on how we can save our precious water.

We learnt that life needs water to stay alive - human life and all the world around us. Most of our world is made of water! Anna explained how NI Water collect and clean water for us to use and drink every day. We should drink water to stay healthy.

Even though it rains a lot in Larne, we still need to be careful with how we use our water. Here are some good tips:

  • turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth
  • take a shower instead of having a bath (but only stay in the shower for 4 minutes!)
  • keep a jug of water in the fridge
  • only flush toilet paper, no wipes!
  • tell an adult if you spot a leaking tap

Everyone learnt fantastic facts about the water cycle and the brilliance of H2O. We will be filling up our reusable water bottles with lovely fresh water straight from the tap: thank you, NI Water!

Celebrating Integrated Education

Celebrating Integrated Education

March is Integrated Education Month and we celebrated in school with a special assembly! We invited guests from our local community: local clergy, local politicians, sports coaches, post-primary principals, current governors and founding governors!

Children from throughout the school took part, explaining to our visitors what integration means to us. We explained the history of our school and how we have grown from our first class in 1991 to an almost full school of 224 pupils! P4 sang and signed a song to show how welcoming our school is to children of all abilities. P7 gave a presentation of the myths of St Patrick and the choir entertained us with a rendition of a Peace Proms song. Everyone dressed in odd socks for the occassion and P3 explained that it is ok to be different!

We rounded off the morning with tea, coffee and tray bakes, kindly provided by our Parents' Council.
