Welcome

Corran IPS is an integrated, co-educational primary school and nursery unit which welcomes, respects and cherishes children of differing religions whilst retaining its own Christian character. Corran is also an inclusive school, welcoming all children from differing traditions, race, class, abilities and disabilities.

We aim to provide a happy, secure environment in which children can realise their full potential as individuals through effective learning. Every opportunity is given for children to experience individual success.

Our new school building, opened in September 2019, is located on a breathtaking site overlooking the sea and the sweeping Antrim hills.

Hello and welcome to our website!

Harvest Celebration

A special Harvest Celebration Assembly was held in school! Our VIP guests for this important festival included Rev Ben Johnston (Gardenmore Presbyterian Church), David Ford (jubilee Farm), Ian Munro (Larne Foodbank), Gary Bisset (Inver Garden Centre) and Marty McToal (Marty's Catering). Some of our school governors also attended.

All children from P1 to P7 took part in the assembly : the singing was wonderful! P1 performed an action song whilst P2 explained the links between our Take 5 wellbeing programme and harvest. P3 and P4 sang: P3 told us about the life of a potato and P4 changed the words of a famous George Ezra song to tell us about riding on a tractor! P5 and P6 gave presentations informing us about harvest around the world and where our food is produced locally. P7 performed a rap about how much they like to eat vegetables!

After the service, pupils helped to gather together all of the wonderful donations for Larne Foodbank. Thank you to all of our Corran families who sent in items!

Fabulous Book Fair!

Fabulous Book Fair!

We are having a Book Fair this week! You can visit before or after school when our friendly P7 helpers will assist you with your purchases. Classes will also visit throughout the week during the school day. If children are bringing money into school to buy books or stationery, we recommend that they carry their cash in a purse/wallet or in an envelope marked with their name.

Everything sold generates commission for us to buy more books for our school and classroom libraries. So why not come along and see what's on offer?!

Gold Award Winners!

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Sustrans Active School Travel Gold Award!

The judges commented very favourably on our application for this prestigious award, saying that they were very impressed by the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by everyone in school to promote the number of children making active, healthy journeys to school. The panel were particularly impressed with the success of our "Walking Bus".

Well done, Team Corran! Thank you for all your support with this project. Keep walking, cycling or scooting to school when you can!

Hope 365 Project

Hope 365 Project

Our Pupil Council has organised a Donation Week from Tuesday 13th May to Friday 16th May to help a local Larne charity, Hope 365.

Hope 365 helps rescue children from living on the streets in Ethiopia by giving them shelter and safety. A representative from the charity spoke to us during a school assembly and told us all about their wonderful work in Ethiopia.

The Pupil Council are encouraging everyone to support the charity by donating items which are no longer needed. It doesn't have to be just clothes - bags, toys or shoes are also welcome.

Clothes and other items which can be sold should be placed in a bin liner and dropped off at the collection point in school. Hope 365 are even happy to receive torn and worn out items but these should be labelled "Rags" and placed in a separate bag.

To help with the collection, Pupil Council gave out some white bags for resale clothes etc and red bags for rags.

For easy access, the mobile donation unit is parked outside the front entrance to our school.

We hope that you can help this very worthy cause.
